By working on collections of one off pieces I am able to make space for creativity to rule over all the other practical needs of running a business.
My one-off collections always begin with wanting to explore a particular form and challenge my making skills. With each collection I develop multiple forms that work as an individual pieces but also in harmony with the rest of the collection. These collections are an intentional step away from the strictly functional, although I am usually drawn to vessels like vases and bowls that speak of a functional history., yet aren't made with everyday use in mind. These collections also allow for a play with scale, my functional everyday tableware keeps me working fairly small, so with they pieces I take the opportunity to work in a much larger scale.
